Our Client, DUO, is a not-for-profit business, led by a Board of Directors, and exists to support people who want to extend their capacity to live where and how they choose - even when they need a little help to do so. DUO works within a person-centred and strengths based framework and is recognised as the key to independent living in and around Canberra - the first call and the best place to find personal, home and community support services. Due to the expansion of its services, a new permanent part-time employment opportunity for an outstanding Behavioural Support Practitioner has been created.
The primary responsibility of this critical role is to ensure the provision of flexible services to people with disabilities, mental illness, the frail and elderly, along with their carers and families, to enable them to live full lives, together with enhancing their independence and personal growth within their home and community. We are looking for a compassionate, sensitive person, holding tertiary qualifications in clinical psychology, with at least 5 years' experience working with people with disabilities.
The person's key responsibilities are to develop positive strategies for participants with complex behavioural issues, provide training to all personnel, conduct assessments and coordinate the development and delivery of effective behavioural management with participants. The ability to handle complex conversations with empathy, whilst remaining professional and supportive is of paramount importance, together with excellent organisational skills, and an understanding of the issues, values and requirements of the disability community sector.
The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package, with not-for-profit benefits, excellent working conditions, and the opportunity to be part of a professional cohesive team recognised for its vitality and commitment to the community.
